‘Willow Time’

Willow Basket Weaving Workshop.

Thursday 17th July 2025, 10am-2.30pm (including Michelin Green-Star lunch!)

Join Alison for a creative half-day outdoor workshop, and weave your own small willow foraging basket. You will be taught how to create embellishes like a God’s eye and a Japanese eye - both traditional attractive basketry ‘binds or joins'. You will bind the handle with seagrass if time allows or leave it with a natural hoop finish.

These lovely baskets are easy to make and can be any size you wish, with or without a handle.   You will learn to make a traditional hoop, learn to join them with a God's eye and then weave in a random style to create the basket. You can remain seated throughout the workshop and work on your lap if you prefer not to stand. The repetitive weave gives everyone time to reflect and soak in the environment whilst creating a unique and useful garden basket that will last for many years.

After the workshop, we shall look forward to serving you a delicious lunch in the Pythouse Kitchen Garden Restaurant.
